Environmental Engineering roadmap
Water & wastewater treatment, pollution control and sustainability.
Start with Environmental Foundations, follow the steps in order, then build a project, prepare for interviews and earn your certificate.
Foundations
- Environmental Foundations — Mass balances and environmental chemistry. The scope of environmental engineering, mass balances and reactor models, and the chemistry of pH, oxygen, BOD and gas transfer.
- Water & Wastewater — Clean water in, clean water out. The hydrological cycle, drinking-water treatment, wastewater treatment, and river water-quality modelling with the oxygen sag.
Core skills
- Air Quality — Emissions, dispersion and control. Air pollutants and their effects, Gaussian plume dispersion, stack design and emission-control devices.
Advanced
- Soil, Groundwater & Waste — Protecting and restoring the subsurface. Groundwater flow and contaminant transport, solid-waste management, adsorption, and contaminated-site remediation.
- Climate & Sustainability — Carbon, life cycles and impact assessment. Climate science and GHG accounting, life-cycle assessment and the circular economy, and environmental impact assessment.
