Course Overview

What this Zig Programming course covers, how to use it, prerequisites.

A structured, hands-on course on the Zig programming language. It runs from your first std.debug.print to comptime metaprogramming, explicit memory management with allocators, the build system and package manager, C interop, concurrency, SIMD, embedded and OS development, WebAssembly, and production practices.

Targets Zig 0.15.x. Zig is pre-1.0 and breaking changes happen every release. 0.15 introduced the new std.Io.Writer/Reader interfaces ("Writergate"), unmanaged-by-default ArrayList, and the removal of usingnamespace. The next releases are reworking async I/O around std.Io. Always check the release notes for your version.

Course Overview

Developers who want a modern systems language: C/C++ programmers, Rust/Go developers, students learning low-level programming

Programming basics. Familiarity with pointers and memory concepts helps a lot.

~90–120 hours (self-paced), 9–12 weeks Zig 0.15.x, ZLS (Zig Language Server) matching your Zig version, VS Code + the Zig extension (or Neovim/Helix/Emacs), GDB/LLDB

Ziglings (exercise-based learning), Exercism Zig track, Advent of Code, zig.guide
