Course Overview
What this Move course covers, how to use it, prerequisites.
A self-contained, hands-on course covering the Move smart-contract language in both of its major modern dialects — Sui Move (object model, Move 2024 edition) and Aptos Move (global storage, Move 2) — with notes on the original Diem Move and other Move chains such as Movement, IOTA, and Initia. You will learn the history and philosophy of resource-oriented programming, tooling (Sui CLI, Aptos CLI, Move.toml, Move Analyzer, Move Prover), primitive types, integers, vectors, strings, structs and abilities, ownership and references, functions and visibility, generics and phantom types, enums and pattern matching, method syntax and macros, errors, events, testing, Aptos global storage and objects, the Sui object model and dynamic fields, design patterns (capability, witness, one-time witness, hot potato), coins and fungible assets, NFTs, Kiosk and transfer policies, programmable transaction blocks, sponsored transactions, randomness, time, upgrades, gas, security, formal verification, SDKs, frontends, indexers, and complete DeFi, NFT and DAO projects. Every chapter has working examples and exercises.
