Truth Table Generator Calculator
Truth table, minterms, canonical SOP/POS and simplified form for any Boolean expression.
What it does
Type any Boolean expression to get its full truth table, minterms, canonical SOP/POS and a simplified form.
Where it's used
Checking logic designs, simplifying expressions and logic-course homework.
How to use it
- Type the expression using letters for variables.
- Use
·or*for AND,+for OR,'after a term for NOT,^for XOR. - Read the table and the simplified expression.
The formula explained
- Precedence
- NOT → AND → XOR → OR (use brackets to be sure)
- Minterm
- a row where the output is 1
- De Morgan
- (AB)' = A' + B', (A + B)' = A'B'
Worked example
Inputs:
- Boolean expression: (A + B)·C'
The calculator gives:
- Simplified (minimal SOP): Y = BC' + AC'
- Variables: A, B, C
Tips and common mistakes
- Each extra variable doubles the number of rows.
- Brackets make intent clear and avoid precedence surprises.
- Paste the minterms into the K-map solver to see the grouping.
Questions people ask
Which operators can I type?
OR: + or |. AND: ·, *, & or just writing letters together (AB). XOR: ^. NOT: !, ~ or an apostrophe after a variable (A'). Use brackets to group.
What is the difference between SOP and POS?
Sum of products (SOP) ORs together AND terms, one for each row where the output is 1. Product of sums (POS) ANDs together OR terms, one for each row where the output is 0. Both describe the same function.
How many rows will the table have?
Two to the power of the number of variables: 8 rows for 3 variables, 16 for 4 and 32 for 5.
